Challenges/needs
The France’s oldest savings bank Group Caisse d’Epargne (GCE) is undergoing rapid change and is positioning itself as a major player on international markets (with Natixis & Oceor in particular).
In order to prepare the company’s leadership for these challenges, Laurent Choain (Group VP Human Resources) and Patrick Moreau (Group Director HR Development), chose Metizo to support the company with a managed transition using Managing Directors as Mentors and a selected pool of High Potentials future leaders – 300 over 3 years.
They designed a device of identification, valuation and development of loyalty of High Potentials independently of existing training programs for executives (ESSEC for ex).
The program was announced to the pool of High Potentials in Paris in January. The participants expressed their interest and questions about the program and realize the implied challenges.
Solution
Over the next 9 months, The High Potentials of the Group Caisse d’Epargne are accompanied along their journey of personal and professional development by the Metizo team. They attend further tutorials in smaller groups to deepen their knowledge of the tools and share their experience. The High Potentials meet with their Mentors to elaborate their career strategies, and they are individually accompanied by the Team throughout the process to ensure their progress.
The Metizo Mentoring program targets senior managers (30 to 40 years old), who have been identified as possible future leaders in the company. The process help them think about their personal and professional aims, allowing them to plan an appropriate career project within the organization.
Thanks to this, the Mentees create their personal leadership strategy including their aspirations and self-understanding, the development of their personal competencies, their value positioning, their career and lifestyle balance until the definition of their multiple career paths.
Mentors improve their development abilities as they work with future leaders. They have to understand their Mentees’ aspirations, use learning tactics, assess their potential and help them develop their long-term leadership strategies.
To work on each point, the Mentees use the 720° and Personal Enterprise Plan to make an oral defense at the end of the nine-month-long program to be Certified.

Outcomes
Objectives for the GCE
- Gather job representative HP of the group.
- Develop their loyalty inside the group.
- Prepare these HP to wider and stronger responsibilities.
- Increase internal mobility and mix populations.
Impact on Mentors
Being a coach and involve themselves in one’s career development make them feel responsible for their Mentees’ improvements and aware of their contribution. It develops Mentors’ management and listening skills.
They can introduce new talents in the organization by transferring their knowledge and experience to the next generation.
Impact on Mentees
Mentors feed Mentees’ social network and make them aware of current internal stakes and opportunities. They are given strategic advice to build a career plan coherent with GCE’s needs.
They increase their visibility inside the group since they meet top executives and they can seize job opportunities.
Impact on HR
They use a peak training method thanks to Metizo which is an outside specialist that has an external vision of the company. The way Metizo works with participants is thus objective so that they can easier talk about them.
The Group gets a return on investment which is pluri dimensional.
