November 2008:
For the first time in China, a full personal development certification program was launched with the Euromed Management and Shanghai Jiaotong AEMBA called “Personal Development in a Global Workplace”. This program builds on the first personal development certification created jointly in 2002 with Euromed Management school and Metizo.
What is a certification program? It is a required program for all AEMBA students and the certification is one of the requirements for students to receive the MBA degree. It starts with two academic teaching modules but it is much more than a course. AEMBA students are supported by tutorials with Metizo Certification Managers throughout their MBA, as well as by Mentors most of whom are former AEMBA graduates. After nine months, individual certification interviews are held for each student on the basis of a written Personal Enterprise Plan, the student’s enterprise for the future.
Euromed Management is recognized for excellent quality in the personal development of students by international accreditation bodies Equis and AMBA. This program is not just for education: Metizo also manages personal development programs for multinational corporations, so the tools and the concepts are validated in the real world and give a competitive edge to students who have mastered them.
Personal development is based on an entrepreneurial approach in building one’s future. The Personal Enterprise Plan is a strategy that takes helps students match aspirations and strengths with the opportunities in the global workplace. The key trait of the entrepreneurial approach is that it is creative and global. It takes into account both economic value and personal value: the goal is not only to maximize human capital but to help students define their own success criteria.
The following statements from this year’s students who have started the program give a good idea of this new education experience:
“I used to do 360 evaluations. But this assignment (720 Coaching) is more useful. It gives me a clear picture to see the difference between what you really are and what you think you are. Also, it makes me think and plan my future systemically: what I really want & how I can achieve. Especially I thought both life and career at the same time, so I can see which is more important, and how I will balance. BTW, I also get a new good friend through this assignment.”

“I’m very glad to take this course and get to know some personal development tools and methods, such as IDEAL, 720 assessment and personal development plans. At present, I cannot tell how I have done on IDEAL & 720 assessment and how I will do my personal development plans, but at least so far it has helped me to sort out my thoughts and get a clearer picture of myself. This is a good start. When I’m at a loss in my life, I know by what means I can analyze the situation professionally and theoretically.”

“I will apply the skills and experience I got from this course to the daily management practices. I will try to work with HR department (probably supported by Metizo company) to make a personal development plan for at least each of my key staff. This will be very helpful to improve their productivity and job satisfaction.”

Now, we are all looking forward to the rest of the journey.
